What do you enjoy most about the inspections?
I enjoy the opportunity to visit various parts of the Bay Area and the challenge of putting all the data of an inspection together for a particular house to give the customer practical, documented feedback. Every inspection is like a 3-D puzzle: a challenge, a chance to apply past experience and to learn new insights, and an opportunity to help people with practical, understandable, unbiased information.
What attracted you to BEAR and this role?
I found Bear Engineering online and was intrigued by their business model of giving thorough, impartial advice about home foundations without then trying to sell any good or service as a result. In my opinion, this is what sets Bear Engineering apart - being a knowledgeable, impartial third party that gives advice and options based on evidence and experience. Being a Bear Engineering inspector is inherently interesting because every home, every foundation, and every inspection is unique.
What are some of your hobbies / interests outside of work?
I love being Dad to our two daughters and to be actively involved in their activities and sports. In addition, I love doing almost anything outdoors such as camping, hiking, walking and cycling.
Is there anything unique from your past that helped prepare you for this?
I have experience as a construction laborer, land development civil engineer, and water treatment plant operator and supervisor, all of which have contributed to my strong work ethic, attention to detail, and problem solving and analytical skills. In addition, I am a certified Civil Engineer in California and have an educational/professional background in both Civil and Environmental Engineering.
